About Me

Beagles & Babies

I live in Sydney, Australia. I am married to Andrew. We met when I was 17, he was 18 and we have been together since those youthful days! We got married in 1999.

I am a very career oriented person, having climbed the corporate ladder quickly, promoted into senior management roles by my late 20s. In 1999,  Andrew and I formed our own IT company and I embarked upon the role of delivering IT and Business Project Management Services. I formed a business partnership with another consulting firm where I helped them build a multi-million dollar revenue stream. This partnership was a fine example of how alliances through strong business relationships can produce amazing results! In addition, I like to write articles in the field of Project Management, speak at conferences and I also teach at Sydney University in their Masters in IT and Masters in IT Management Programmes.

Andrew and I are both like to plan out a few years ahead with regard to our professional objectives and personal development. This is what prompted us to move in 2002 into a house that would be big enough for a family, thinking we would have babies in a couple of years time.

We got Millie our first Beagle as a 8 week old puppy in December 2002 to see if we were up for the challenge of a Baby:) We survived that so at the age of 35 yrs old we started trying for a baby. We fell pregnant after 4 months of trying..... whoo hoo! All going according to plan..... BUT.... then at the 10 week ultrasound we found out the embryo had not developed and there was no heart beat. That very same day I had a D&C procedure and we handled it all very rationally....... but it took us 2 years later, a pile of weight stacked on me and a distant marriage for us to wake up and see we did not actually deal with the first miscarriage. In my first Blog posting I talk about this further.

Now, nearly 5 years later, 3 miscarriages later, 25 kilos lost later, an addition of another Beagle  called Katie and with IVF treatments going for 1.5 years now we are still trying for the babies to fill this house. Andrew and I however, have grown so much from the experiences, we so much closer, feel very grateful for what we do have and laugh alot.

Late 2008 I stopped working fulltime (but kept my university lecturing going for something to do!) as we figured the stress levels may not be helping me get preggies and stay preggies and so we continue on our journey to add to the family. Our Beagles have helped us through the the IVF roller-coaster - their incredible love for you just cannot be ignored. Everyday they do something that makes us laugh.

This blog delves into so many topics that I feel are so relevant in most women’s lives. These topics are covered with an uplifting and humorous twist which is my coping mechanism. I hope you get something from my postings and I really look forward to reading your own comments and thoughts!

Best wishes,

Lisa
